As the choice for skin rejuvenation and body sculpting in Minneapolis, we are always surprised at the lengths some people will go to achieve younger-looking skin and flawless beauty. And what some “professionals” will do to take advantage of that need. All over the world, people have been subjecting themselves to some fairly outrageous, and sometimes dangerous, skin beauty treatments that promise effects along the line of the fountain of youth. These three spa and beauty treatments are some that caused our collective jaw to drop.
- Thai face slapping. Done by Thai masseuse Tata, apparently the sole person in the Western hemisphere trained in the specifics of face slapping as beauty treatment, the practice is said to tighten skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles – and will cost you a whopping $350. Now, that’s a slap in the face.
- Sounding somewhat innocuous, the Geisha facial out of Manhattan’s Shizuka New York Day Spa has a special ingredient that you might not want to poo-poo. Or maybe you will – the beauty treatment, at $180, includes powdered nightingale feces. Supposedly, the practice of slathering your face in bird excrement and rice bran dates back to ancient Japan – supposedly.
- For those who are not even remotely interested in saving money with homemade DIY treatments, the 24-karat gold facial will, in the very least, allow you to feel especially spoiled. And it should, at $500 for a single treatment. Applying the precious metal to your facial skin is supposed to reduce the appearance of age spots and wrinkles.
