We will discuss how much of the product you need to achieve the desired results and how many treatment sessions you will need. Usually, between 1 to 4 treatment sessions are recommended.

Step 3: Treatment
One of our physicians will place the Kybella injections strategically. There are injections that feel like little “pinches” using the smallest possible needle. Immediately following the treatment, you will experience an achy feeling for 10 to 15 minutes. During this time, swelling will occur as the fat cells are destroyed, causing inflammation. You will remain swollen for 4 to 5 days. Following the treatment, you may resume normal activities, though you may want to take a few days of social downtime.

Following your series of treatments, we like to see you back in 8 weeks. From there, we can determine if additional injections are necessary to achieve your goals.

- Is there any downtime?
Depending on how you define downtime, you could go back to work the same day though you may want to avoid social activities. There will be swelling after the procedure for up to a week. We will discuss this at the consultation.
- Is this treatment painful or uncomfortable?
The injections themselves pinch a bit but are not painful. Immediately after the injections and for the next 10 to 15 minutes, you may feel some achiness in the area. In the next few days, you may experience slight discomfort in the treated area.
- What are the side effects?
The most common side effects include swelling in the treated area. You may experience temporary numbness, light bruising, or some local discomfort or pain.
- When will I begin to see results?
You’ll see results in 2 to 3 weeks following treatment as your body eliminates the dead fat cells.
- How many sessions will I need?
Typically, between one and three or four treatments depending on the size of the area.
- Should this be considered permanent?
We should consider this permanent fat reduction in the area being treated as long as you maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise routine. If you were to gain significant weight, your double chin could return.
