Post Care Instructions
Immediate Post-Procedure Care
Cleanliness:
Keep the insertion site clean and dry for the first 24–48 hours. Leave any bandages in place as instructed by your provider.
Activity:
Avoid vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, or any activity that puts pressure on the area for 3–4 days. Light walking is generally safe.
Baths and Swimming:
Refrain from tub baths, hot tubs, or swimming for at least 3–5 days to reduce the risk of infection.
Ice:
Apply an ice pack to the area for 1–2 hours to help minimize swelling.
Around Day 3
Showering:
After 24–48 hours, you can usually shower. Avoid direct water pressure on the site at first and do not scrub the area.
Bandages:
Follow your provider’s instructions for removing the large bandage. Small steri-strips are typically left in place for 5–7 days to support healing.
Moisturizers:
Avoid applying lotions, creams, or gels to the wound for the first few days, as this may interfere with proper healing.
