Before laser hair removal, protect yourself from the sun’s rays with a broad-spectrum SPF30 sunscreen. Additionally, four weeks before treatment, steer clear of other methods like plucking and waxing; shaving should be done the day before. Do not take blood–thinning medications like aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for maximum results!
During the session, you’ll be given protective eyewear and have a cooling gel applied for extra comfort. The handpiece that emits light pulses has been likened in sensation, by patients, to a mild prickling sensation, so it shouldn’t cause any extreme discomfort or pain.
After treatment, you may experience noticeable redness and swelling for a few hours. While hair won’t fall out directly after the procedure, it will gradually shed over days to weeks. Repeated treatments are usually necessary to get the full benefit since individual hair follicles move through different stages as part of their natural cycle.
Following treatment, the targeted area may appear to have a subtle pink hue and be slightly warm to the touch. You could also notice some small raised bumps for up to fifteen minutes; however, these effects will dissipate quickly!
Sessions can vary in length. A quick touch-up on the underarms or bikini area may take as little as fifteen minutes, while a leg treatment could require more than an hour of precision laser work!
